Jaguars DE Dante Fowler arrested in St. Petersburg
You pay them MILLIONS of Dollars a year to play Football, and they can’t keep out of TROUBLE. Former Lakewood High school and Florida Gators Standout Dante Fowler Jr was arrested Tuesday Night in his hometown of St. Petersburg Florida on misdemeanor charges of simple battery and mischief.
Entering his 3rd season with the Jaguars, Fowler was scheduled to report with the veterans to Mini Camp next week.
According to the report, Fowler, 22 was arrested at 9:02pm and was released after paying the $650 bond. The former first-round pick out of Florida missed his rookie season due to injury but had 32 tackles and 4 sacks last season.
No Word from the Jaguars about this incident.
Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports, via a police report, that Fowler was arrested after an altercation in an apartment complex parking lot. A man allegedly criticized Fowler’s driving, leading to an argument that included Fowler hitting the other man and stepping on his glasses after they were knocked off. Fowler also allegedly took the other man’s bag of groceries, which included “recently purchased liquor,” and threw it in a lake. Fowler’s alleged victim was not injured.
Both of the charges are misdemeanors and Fowler could also see disciplinary action taken by the league, which will likely be looking into the incident and following the legal proceedings related to the arrest.
