Deshaun Watson was awarded Best Male College Athlete at the ESPYs
Former Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson bested Ian Harkes (Wake Forest soccer), Frank Mason (Kansas basketball), Matt Rambo (Maryland lacrosse), and Zain Retherford (Penn State wrestling) to take home Best Male College Athlete at the 2017 ESPY Awards on Wednesday night.
Buddy Hield of the Oklahoma Sooners’ basketball team won the award last year.
Watson lost to Golden State Warriors’ Kevin Durant in the category of Best Championship Performance.
Clemson was nominated for Best Team and Best Upset. The Warriors and Mississippi State women’s basketball team won those awards, respectively.
